Hi everyone,
This is just a quick update about the plans for next weekend. Things are still a go, but the group will likely be small again. We'd planned to get more info out to everyone sooner, but it just didn't work out due to a family emergency for one of the planning team members.
If your current address was in the last booklet, you should have the flier now. Please do come if you can on short notice.
Since there is such a small response so far, I don't plan to set up a special section for the game. Last time, we sat to the left of the press box (if you are facing it) and that worked well. I don't plan to go to the game this time, but I'm sure you'll be able to find each other.
Whether you go to the game or not, hope you'll come to Cracklewood for some gathering & gabbing time!
Also, if you keep in touch with a classmate, please make sure they have the info.
See you Friday!

Reunion Part 2
Hi everyone,
First, for those of you who are reading this and wondering about reunion part 1, you can see the details in previous posts. We weren't able to reach everyone, but we did our best. We had a nice event in July and I know everyone would agree with me in saying we hope even more people can come this time.
Here's what we have planned this time around. For quick reference, the details are in the column to the right.
October 14th- Friday Night Football at LHN. There were very few home games to pick from and with homecoming being extra crowded already, the athletic director suggested this game would be better for us to attend if we hope to have a group and space to sit. One of the issues is when they got the new bleachers, they had issues getting an away side installed, so everyone sits on the same side with the opposing team at the far end.
Assuming the weather is good, we'll need a handful of people to get there early and potentially mark off an area so that we can sit together. A few yards of some kind of tape or roping should do the trick. As you're looking at the press box, I believe we will want to be to the left. That worked pretty well 5 years ago. Game starts at 7Pm. AD also says it should be a good game so if you want to stay for the whole thing feel free or leave at half-time etc.
Gathering approx 8PM
The July event was pretty simple and casual and this one continues along that line. We'll have space ready for us at the Cracklewood Golf Course which is located on 24 just east of school. They do have fish fry dinners on Fri night but by 8PM or so, most of the regular diners should be done. Just like the July event, you'll be able to order off the menu/from the bar on your own if you'd like to. There is no set cost otherwise. If we wanted to do something like pizzas, we'd have to let them know ahead of time so if you'd like to consider that option, feel free to contact me.
If the weather is bad, the plan will be to just go to Cracklewood.
Spreading the Word & RSVP
This time Heather Stark Simpson is doing a mailing and potentially a follow up email to as many people as we can get correct addresses for so please look for that and RSVP either to her or to me. If you don't get the mailing, you can also reach me via my website at www.cherylpickett.com. Heather's email is HeatherL@greatlakes.net.
Please help us reach as many people as we possibly can. If you think you have valid contact info for someone please either forward it to one of us, or try and see if you can reach them and pass along the info.
Memory Book
At the July event, we had a questionnaire for people to fill out. Since this event is so close, we decided to wait to compile the info and do the questionnaire again in October. If nothing else, it would be great to have updated contact info so please be prepared to take a moment to do the form if you haven't already.
Guess that's about it for now. Watch this space for any updates or further information. Hope to see you there!

A Great Evening
Hi all,
A little late with this I guess, but just wanted to let people know a few details from Saturday night. First, it was really a fun night. We truly missed those of you who couldn't make it! I'd also like to say thank you to those who pitched in and helped: Pat Knapp, Wendy Weber Sowders, Rick & Andrea Snow. Truly appreciated it!
From our count, 24 classmates were there and probably half or so brought spouses/guests too. I think one or two people were there that may not have been to another reunion, so that was cool. Overall, lots of great conversation and renewing of friendship/contact, almost picking up wherever we left off without missing a beat.
Wendy put together a contact/update sheet from which we hope to compile a booklet of some sort in the future. So if you'd like one, get in touch with me or comment below and we'll get one to you. We hope to make the booklet digital so costs can stay as low as possible, but we'll look into hard copies if there is enough interest.
The space at Rochester Mills worked out well-until the band showed up. It was pretty funny that now, in our wisdom, we chose to retreat from the particularly loud music to continue to talk a visit. Note for next time, maybe somewhere without a band :-).
Speaking of next time, there was general agreement that it would be fun to try to go to a home football game and then out afterwards again in the fall. We've also had a couple people volunteer to do mailing or phone calls to try to reach more people, so stay tuned!

All Year Picnic Update etc.
Hi everyone,
First, glad to see that we've gotten a few more yes RSVPs in the past week or so. Looking forward to seeing everybody, please keep inviting & reminding!
Next, just got word this morning that the all years picnic at school is cancelled due to lack of response. The organizer also mentioned that if anyone would like to help next year, she'd like to try again.
Lisa Claus Perry has also mentioned maybe doing some sort of booklet still, and as the date was coming up quick, I though it might be better to hold off. Maybe we could do one after the fact and collect info that night. If you have any thoughts on that, please feel free to let us know. See you soon!

All Alumni Picnic - 2nd Event for July 16th
Part of the reason July 16 was chosen for our summer event was to coincide with the all-year picnic. Here are the details for that. Please spread the word to ANY LHN almum you might know. It's also pretty basic, potluck style.
All alumni and families are welcome!
Join us for an old fashioned Lutheran potluck. Everyone should bring a main dish (casserole, baked beans, bucket o' chicken, etc.). If your last name begins with A-M, bring a salad also. If your last name begins with N-Z, bring a dessert in addition to your main dish. Table service, water, and punch will be provided. Bring other non-alcoholic beverages if you wish to drink something else.
Small donations to offset cost of table service will be accepted.
We are also hoping that the Round Town Funky Bunch will be returning for a repeat performance. They do not charge us, so feel free to fill their guitar cases with money. :)

Location Details
Hi everyone,
This is actually a re-do of my post the other day, so if you stopped by before and it looks slightly different that's why. Blogger seemed to be having issues that night and it totally lost my post as well as one RSVP. So take 2...
At first, I figured a few of us would choose the location together but that didn't end up needing to be the case as I found out not many bar/restaurants have the space for 100 people or so. After calling around to half a dozen suggested places, only one really fit the parameters of casual, not expensive, and available.
Even though we've had little response/RSVP so far, last time attendance was around 100. Figuring this way is much cheaper, I'm hoping at least that many if not more will come. The other spaces only held 60-70 and I figured winding up with extra room for something like this would be better than cramming into a too small space.
That being the case here are the location and format details:
LOCATION: Rochester Mills Beer Co. located in downtown Rochester, Mi.
We will not have a private room, but we will have an area of the dining room reserved for us.
There will be a live band/small dance floor starting at 10PM and I believe there are pool tables.
FORMAT: Casual, come however you are comfortable. Cash bar and order off the menu if you'd like. If not, that's fine too. I also figured we will have name tags so we can identify ourselves as we mingle etc.
There is an alternative to the format above. They do have everything from cheese/cracker/hot appetizer party trays to a pizza bar that we could order. My thought was to keep things really basic so that hopefully, even those on really tight budgets can still get there and visit with everyone since that's the whole point.
If you would prefer to have some sort of food for the group, please comment below. If there's enough interest, and we can keep the cost down, it's certainly open for discussion.
Also, please RSVP by going to the tab above and commenting. Since this is a standard blog, not all of the features can be turned off so you'll need to choose an identity. If you don't have a Google account etc. you should be fine with name/url and only enter your name, or anonymous.
Please spread the word and encourage people to RSVP! That's what we definitely need right now.
If you have any issues (like the ones that happened the other night) please don't hesitate to contact me either on Facebook or at my site www.cherylpickett.com
Looking forward to seeing you all!

LHN Class of 1986 25th Reunion!
Hi everybody,
25 years, can you believe it's been that long? Every so often I see classmates posting about their kids being at LHN or getting ready for LHN and it feels like we were just there, at least to me. But it wasn't just yesterday and it's time to get together, to share some memories and have some fun! That being the case, here's a quick summary of what's happened so far:
I (Cheryl Pickett) put a note on Facebook earlier this year to hopefully get things rolling. There are quite a few of us connected there, though we still need to reach plenty of people.
We started a preliminary RSVP list, asked for volunteers to help with coordinating things and, so far, response hasn't been as good as last time. I'm hoping/thinking the minimal response is just because most people aren't using FB as much as I'd hoped and aren't reading the notes. I know everyone is busy, but hopefully that won't stop us from getting together.
As of March or so, Dave Shook, Lisa Claus Perry and I chose the date, and decided this time we'd keep it casual after at least a few others agreed. That conversation was also started based on comments after the last reunion and people's desire to make it simpler the next time around.
Pat Knapp checked out a few venues, Dave Shook & Wendy Weber Sowders suggested a few more and I've been calling on those as of this week. I plan to, along with whomever else I can reach, make a choice and book the space shortly as it's already pretty late in the game. It's actually not as easy as I thought to find a more casual venue that has a private, or even semi-private area that would accommodate at least 100 people.
That's it for now, more coming soon. This is now planning central so please check back for updates even if you're on Facebook. Please also reach out to as many classmates as possible, invite them to participate here and at least RSVP. You can also subscribe to updates via email using the subscription area in the right column.
